01Scope and developer
This Privacy Policy applies to the Readora iOS app and readora.layseallone.com, provided by ChengNa Yu (the developer, “we”). Readora does not require a separate Readora account. The contact details at the end of this policy are available for support and privacy requests.
02Your books and reading data
Imported files, book information, categories, highlights, notes, reading positions, reading time, garden records and preferences are stored on your device. The current app does not upload this reading content to a developer-operated content server. A local App Group shares the information needed by Readora widgets, including book covers and selected highlights. Standard device backups may include app data according to your Apple settings.
03Optional iCloud sync
iCloud sync is off by default and is an optional Pro feature. When enabled, book files, categories, highlights, notes, reading progress and calendar/garden records are stored in your Apple iCloud for synchronization between your devices. Device identifiers and deletion markers help merge changes. Your WeRead API key is not included. Apple processes iCloud data under its own terms and privacy policy. Turning sync off stops future synchronization but does not automatically erase existing cloud files; older file versions may remain.
04Optional connections and downloads
If you connect WeRead, your API key is stored in the device Keychain and sent to the official WeRead interface to request your book information and highlights. Those requests, and requests for remote book covers, reveal ordinary connection information to the relevant provider. Full protected book text is not imported. Kindle transfer creates a temporary local Wi-Fi download service for files you select; people with its address on the local network may access those files while it runs. It stops when you leave that screen or the app goes into the background. Optional neural voice packs are downloaded from GitHub release hosting, whose servers receive normal download request information. After installation, speech synthesis runs on your device; the currently available reading voices do not send your book text to a cloud speech service.
05Purchases and RevenueCat
Apple processes payments. RevenueCat helps verify transactions, restore purchases and determine Pro access. It processes an anonymous app user identifier, purchase/transaction information, entitlement status and technical information needed to provide and protect that service. An anonymous identifier is not the same as collecting no data. The current integration does not send your books, highlights or reading history to RevenueCat, and we do not receive your full payment card details. Purchase records may also be used to understand product sales and investigate failed purchases.
06Permissions and reminders
The file picker grants access to files you choose. Saving a quote image may request permission to add to Photos. Notifications are optional and are scheduled locally for quote reminders; a reminder may display part of a saved highlight on the lock screen. Local-network access is used for Wi-Fi book transfer when you start it. You can control system permissions and notification previews in device Settings. Declining a permission affects only the related feature.
07Website and support
This website is delivered by Cloudflare. Cloudflare may process IP addresses, request URLs, browser/device information and security or delivery logs to serve and protect it. We do not add advertising trackers, third-party analytics scripts or non-essential cookies to this site. English and Chinese are separate URLs; switching languages does not require browser storage. If you email support, we process the email address, message and attachments you choose to provide to answer your request. Please do not send credentials or entire books.
08Purposes, sharing and international processing
We use the information described above to provide requested features, verify paid access, offer support, keep services secure and meet legal obligations. Where a legal basis is required, it may be performance of a contract, legitimate interests in secure service delivery, legal obligations, or consent where required. Apple, RevenueCat, Cloudflare, WeRead and download hosts process information as described above and under their applicable policies. We do not sell your personal information or use your reading content for cross-app advertising. Providers may process information outside your country; applicable transfer safeguards and mandatory rights continue to apply.
09Retention, deletion and security
Local content remains until you delete it or remove the app, subject to device backups. Deleting a book also deletes its associated local highlights; accumulated calendar history may remain. Removing the app does not guarantee removal of Keychain items, iCloud copies or purchase records. Remove a saved WeRead connection in the app and manage cloud data and backups through Apple settings as needed. Support and purchase-related records are kept for as long as necessary for their purpose, dispute handling and applicable law; provider retention periods differ. We use platform safeguards such as the Keychain and HTTPS for remote service requests. Local Kindle transfer uses HTTP on your local network; use a trusted network. No storage or transmission method is completely secure.
10Your choices and rights
You can edit or delete local books and notes, stop optional connections, disable iCloud sync and notifications, and delete downloaded voice packs. Depending on your location, you may request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction or objection to processing, withdraw consent where applicable, and complain to a relevant data protection authority. Contact us below; proportionate identity verification may be needed. We cannot access or delete files stored only on your device or in your private iCloud on your behalf. Apple and other providers may need to handle requests concerning their own records.
11Children and policy updates
Readora is a general-purpose reading tool and is not directed at children below the minimum age at which they may use it without parental authorization under applicable law. We do not knowingly solicit their personal information. A parent or guardian who believes a child has sent us information can contact us for appropriate action. We may update this policy as features or practices change, revise the date above and provide additional notice when required.
